FAQ

  • Each person is unique and has had an individual life experience to shape them emotionally and physically. Therefore, each person will respond slightly differently – and at a different pace – to Craniosacral Therapy. Other factors that will influence the treatment outcome include the current state of health, history of illness or injuries, and the length of time symptoms have been present.

Generally, when people first come to Craniosacral Therapy, I recommend three to four treatments. In my experience, the outcomes are far more positive when the body and nervous system are given time to truly unwind and reset. This applies to both children and adults. From there, depending on the person's needs, treatments can be regular (e.g. fortnightly or monthly), or as and when needed.

Babies usually only require two to four treatments before showing improvement. Plagiocephaly (flat head) and sometimes however requires a few more treatments to see an improvement.

  • The most common response I hear after treatment is 'I feel lighter'. Tension and stress really weigh us down and Craniosacral Therapy allows the body and nervous system to offload some of this 'weight', providing a sense of relief both throughout the body and to the mind as well,

If it is your very first Craniosacral Therapy treatment, there may be a brief period of tiredness or a return of symptoms as your body continues to rebalance and reorganise after the treatment. Generally, people feel deeply relaxed and rested, with reduced pain and feeling more like themselves.

  • One of the reasons I chose to practice Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy was because it is completely safe and gentle when practiced by a fully qualified therapist. This allows me to work with confidence with people of all ages, including babies and children as well as elderly people.

There is no manipulation used and the light, non-invasive touch is what prompts a person's nervous system to feel safe and supported. In this state of safety and relaxation, healing can take place. The body will not release tension to noticeable effect unless the brain says it is safe to do so.

Sometimes there can be feelings of pressure, tingling, pins and needles or temperature changes throughout the body during the treatment, these are all signs the person is responding well to the treatment and their body is making changes to move towards optimum health.
